FAQs about The Olive Tree Essential Oil Scented Soy Candle

I thought it was not advisable to burn essential oil as it may destroy the therapeutic benefits of the essential oil?

Generally, tea lights which use paraffin wax have higher melting points which may destroy the therapeutic benefits of the essential oil. However, since soy wax has a lower melting point, you can still enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the essential oil. Soy wax burns longer and at cooler temperature compared to paraffin wax.

What is the best way to burn The Olive Tree Soy Candle?

Our recommended burn time is 3-4 hours. Please trim the wick to 1/4" before each lighting to prevent wick curling. Trim your wick with a simple finger pinch or by using scissors or a proper wick trimmer. As a safety precaution, never leave wick trimmings (matches or other debris, for that matter) in your candle jar. Always allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the jars before extinguishing. This will allow the candle to burn evenly and prevent "tunneling." Please do not leave a candle unattended or in reach of children, pets or a draft. Allow the jar to cool completely before handling. Soy wax has a low melting point and can begin to soften or melt at temperatures above 25°C, therefore it should be stored at room temperature at all times.

What is the total burn time for The Olive Tree Soy Candle?

Our candle total burn time is approximately 20 hours.

How should I extinguish my candle?

The best way to extinguish our candles is by gently blowing out the flame. A proper wick snuffer works great, as well. Please do not attempt to extinguish a candle using water!

What are the ingredients used in The Olive Tree Soy Candle?

We make our candles using premium soy wax imported from the UK, The Olive Tree's 100% pure essential oils and pure cotton wick.

Why is the scent of The Olive Tree Soy Candle milder compared to other brands?

We scented the candles using 100% pure essential oils instead of synthetic fragrance oils hence the scent throw is not as strong compared to synthetic fragrance oil. Moreover, essential oil evaporates during the burn.

What is the shelf-life of the The Olive Tree Soy Candle?

As our candles are hand-poured fresh in small batches and we do not use any preservatives, they have a shelf life of typically 6 months. Keep the candles away from direct sunlight and store at room/cool temperature to prolong the shelf-life. Soy wax has a low melting point and can begin to soften or melt at temperatures above 25°C, therefore it should be stored at room temperature at all times.

Is The Olive Tree Soy Candle vegan?

Yes, our candles are vegan as we do not use any animal by products including beeswax.

How to remove the wax from the jar?

Place the candle in the freezer. Once the wax hardens, it can be chipped out along with the wick. You may also remove the wax residue by washing it with hot water and soap.

Can I repurpose the jar?

Absolutely! You may repurpose the jars to store our soaps during travel. We also love to use them to store loose change, accessories and sauces - or just recycle!
